"Who's Your Daddy?", A Group Show by Supakitch, Crash, Flying Fortress and Grotesk at Kolly Gallery New York
Since September 2015, Kolly Gallery has been exhibiting in temporary locations bringing urban art awareness to everyone. Tonight, May 19, 2016, the gallery will present a group show, “Who’s Your Daddy?” by Crash, Flying Fortress, Supakitch and Grotesk.
I have the opportunity to interview Julien Kolly, the gallerist and Flying Fortress about the show.
Interview by Mark Changco.
Artworks by Flying Fortress, Supakitch, and Crash.
Julien, Why did you choose to showcase Crash, Grotesk, Supakitch and Flying Fortress together?
Julien: I choose the artists that I worked with and linked to New York for this show. Crash, he’s the oldest and the most talented artist from New York. Grotesk, an artist from Switzerland, to show the quality and the precision with his sculptures will be perfect. While Flying Förtress represents for me the spirit of Graffiti and add humour in his work. And lastly, SupaKitch, he used to live in New York. He’s the french touch of the show.
The title of your show, “Whos Your Daddy?” — for me is a rhetorical question that boasts superiority and separates yourself amongst the rest. It could be a different interpretation from your personal take. Tell us about the show.
Flying Fortress: Yes, the show’s title does indeed transport this idea about us artist being not the modest kind of people. Always a bit too much boast but also self-assurance… but maybe the answer to that rhetorical question its just…Kolly! 😉
What will be your favorite piece of the show and why?
Flying Fortress: This series of artworks shows some part of my artist life, story and adventure. This time my iconic aliases The Teddy Troops come in the disguise of public train systems designs. If I had to choose one of them I would like the Berlin ones the best because both have the most stressful tunnel adventure story in my memories.
Are there any exciting component that your followers should watch out for the show opening?
Flying Fortress: There will also be a new print design released for the opening! From all of us four artists in a set. Nice little gem!
The exhibition will be on view May 20 to May 22, 2016 with an opening reception tonight, May 19 at 6pm.
